Urban Legends (2000)

by Hutch Harris

1.
Let's rewrite history tonight We can win, we are sinners I can rearrange words on a page A jaded memory's melody again I don't get out much lately For the life of me I can't remember yesterday No matter, minutes turn to years And ignorance is sweet to watch the world burn brilliantly It's alright, I don't mind I'm not blind, I just close my eyes Let's end it all today With chaos all invisible, a virus from the inside Gently we will fade to sleep No need for legacy
2.
No more time for counting stars in waiting for another chance For all the insecure to pass, to live my life again But nothing silent's known to leave Would be here to stay if I gave you all the time to carry on away? I won't miss you when you're gone Your sinister exposures hide in tears, a true facade Finally, Im free, though sadly the bitterness remains inside of me And every time for you a fine time to let it all die My strength had disappeared somehow I felt only less than mortal bowing down Now at the mercy of your whim I lie My lines rewrite the drama endlessly It's all that I can desire, so in love and so requited Every day the possibilities are infinite
3.
Believe, lies are cheap Power, highest power of dream Fair intentions die, the higher you climb And we've no way to cure instinctive greed There will be no end, and eventually all are buried We won't be free for long, but for now let's just pretend A distraction's all we need Lie, deep inside my eyes Fulfill our destiny divine Policy denial never falls, when all bluffs are called Never mind, we're fine
4.
Praise our glorious inventions Our calculated evil so inherent It's the price we pay to reign the food chain A beautiful extinction suicide It's less than 30 minutes now, how wonderful We've been nothing but loyal, hell we bled for your salary For your choice responsible to live far from humanity Please less than infinity now, how wonderful There was nothing we could've done So few reside so high over all life And powers that be will always rest easy, how wonderful
5.
Don't cry that it's all been said before New ears are born each morning Another chance gladly accepted I'll search for rebirth in your dying If you can, then try You can change what has already been decided I've got hypocrisy today, I've got the silence of strong words to say: "I live a beautiful song. I hold the torch for all wrong" From all sides, voices shout Lost hours turn to the years You can catch time as it flies by, or you can watch idly Don't give away to the old numbers falling The last moment is fading Don't lose the vision Death's not your quest but it's always left waiting
6.
We're not searching for the past We look ahead to when time won't last If we could leave today we would stay If we can dream tomorrow, why wake?

8.
I will always live the past, I will always follow through I hope you never find a reason to die today We've a lot to live, I'm alive in vitamins I hope I have a light, I have a lot to learn Please don't hide your tears, they're beautiful I will always live the past, I will always follow through I hope you never find a reason to die today I hope I have a light, I have a lot to learn I will always leave quietly
9.
Another Sun 01:55
I can see your faces pasted permanent I see soldiers grinning jump cliffs, their wounds are all internal We've got graves for glory Wade in blood, it's fiction in victory Some still lay dying, we walk on too busy These ants in formation Misguided, determined, another sun rises I'll try and communicate the point you seem to miss Cause I'm an addict of the silence, we're always left guessing And it's all in my head I wouldn't think you'd understand so I keep it to myself instead Indifference is my quest Forgetting everything's the only thing to put my heart to rest It's so much easier than hope Hope our enemy
10.
Oh wise one, you laid the same traps laid for you These persecutors hopefully destined to be the victims soon Fight, fall not now Wished I was not fatally flawed, though I found truth But I can't deny that I'll never feel so high as to be above you Will our feet ever plant? I'm alive with a burning inside Go your way, true I will stay I have the time for silence comfortably, to live reality Sometimes the single is the only sound true A compromise can't quench the visions permanently But far above visions are love stories to feel And I'll beware to live the stories fabricated so real
11.
You've not a lot to say I've nowhere to be right now Still I'll whisper in your ear We've got our contracts Signed in silence Still I'll whisper in your ear I've only love for you I've not a lot to say It's sometimes so sad Still I'll whisper in your ear
